Excursions

On the free Wednesday afternoon you are cordially invited to join any of the three excursions we have organized for you. Make your choice at the online registration! This page provides you with information about the three options we offer. Of course, you can also explore on your own many of the attractions Vienna has to offer.

Excursion I – Guided city walk following the traces of Viennese scientists

There will be a guided city walk (ca. 2h), lead by a professional tourist guide who takes us on the traces of important Viennese scientists like Boltzmann, Meitner and Schrödinger. There will be a fee of 8 Euros per person.

Excursion II – Guided tour of the Princely Collections at the Liechtenstein Palace

For art lovers there will be a unique guided tour of the Princely Collections of the House of Liechtenstein in Vienna. The Collections contain major works of European art spanning five centuries and are among the most important private collections in the world. The visit is possible thanks to the generosity of the Bank of Liechtenstein. There will be a fee of 3 Euros per person to handle the logistics. Note that the number of participants is limited to 25 persons. The possibility to participate will be decided on a first register first serve basis.

Excursion III – Through the grapevine – Hiking with a view

If you want to participate in our hiking tour, please bring suitable shoes. The trail is 11.2km (7 mi) long and will lead us through grapevines up to the Kahlenberg, where you’ll have a breathtaking view over Vienna. We’ll continue through the Wienerwald (Vienna woods) and along the so-called tree-of-life circle. Finally, we’ll arrive directly at the conference dinner restaurant.

The net walking time is 2,5 to 3 hours (comfortable speed), so there will be time for photos and breaks.

To get to the starting point of the trail, we will walk from the conference venue to Schottentor and take Tram line D until the final stop.

If you are very curious you can already look up the route on google maps.
