Travel information

If you come by plane:
From the airport Wien-Schwechat there are several possibilities to get into the city. Our suggestion is to take the S-BahnS7 in direction “Floridsdorf” until Praterstern. From there you can take the tramway 5 directly to Alserstraße / Spitalgasse, where the campus is located. For all that you only need a 2-zone-ticket which costs 4,20 EUR. You can get the ticket at the ticket machines at the airport. Other options would include the CAT (City Airport Train) or the Vienna Airport Lines (Bus). Both are more expensive and also more complicated to use in order to get here. So don’t just stumble into the CAT only because all the ads at the airport suggest to do so 😉

If you come by train:
Depending from where you come you will probably either arrive at Wien Westbahnhof or Wien Hauptbahnhof. In both cases we would suggest you take the metro lines (U3 from Westbahnhof to Volkstheater where you change to U2; or U1 from Hauptbahnhof to Karlsplatz where you change to U2). When you change to the U2 head for direction Aspernstraße and go until U2 station Schottentor, where the main building of University of Vienna is located. From there you can either take a 10 minutes walk down the Universitätsstraße until you reach the campus on the corner to Spitalgasse, or you go just two stations with one of the tramways 43 or 44.

If you come by car:
Think twice! Especially because there are no free parking lots around the venue. Parking fees are mandatory from Monday through Friday between 9am and 10pm. Tickets can be purchased at tobacco stores or gas stations. There is also the possibility to buy tickets online or by SMS. You can also park the car in one of the outer districts and then go into the inner districts by public transport.  If none of this bothers you or your hotel offers you a parking place, use the google maps (venue already marked) to find the route. Further infos regarding parking are provided on the city website Parking in Vienna.
